When Robbie Morris was growing up in Ruckersville, Virginia, he didn’t imagine that one day he’d be leading a thriving sign company, collaborating closely with a talented team, and spotting his work displayed across the region with a sense of pride only a creator understands. A William Monroe High School graduate who later studied at Virginia Tech and earned an Associates degree from Piedmont Virginia Community College, Robbie’s early interests were shaped not in classrooms, but at the racetrack—where asphalt, dirt, and the hum of engines filled the air. Watching his older brother win races sparked his fascination with design, decals, and the visual identity of speed. Without knowing it, those nights at the track were laying the foundation for Performance Signs.
Long before business ownership, Robbie’s first job was far less glamorous—scooping ice cream at New River Valley Speedway. It was there he learned teamwork, how to stay calm under pressure, and discovered what blisters feel like when you hand-scoop a little too enthusiastically. Those small but mighty lessons would eventually fuel something much bigger.
In 1996, Robbie officially launched what would become Performance Signs—not from a storefront, warehouse, or polished office, but from a dorm room. Replacement decals for his brother’s race car were expensive and inconvenient, so Robbie found a solution. Soon, the business moved from his dorm room to his bedroom, and staying organized became both a challenge and a comedy. But even then, Robbie’s creativity and determination were clear. What started with racing decals slowly turned into a growing stream of projects, relationships, and momentum.
Today, Robbie serves as Performance Signs’ Business Development lead and EOS Visionary. His role no longer includes all-hours production sessions, but it does include shaping direction, solving complex challenges, and supporting the entire team through leadership rooted in clarity and innovation. While others manage installs, design files, printers, vinyl, and workflow, Robbie sees the horizon—what’s coming, what’s possible, and what’s next. He collaborates closely with every team member, weaving together people, ideas, and opportunities with the same precision he once used to align race car graphics in his dorm room.
Over the years, Robbie has seen countless projects move through the shop, but one he will never forget is the installation of an overhead highway sign project in Lynchburg—an unforgettable combination of scale, logistics, adrenaline, and accomplishment. And even now, when he’s out and about with his four children, he still spots signs and wraps from past projects. Each one sparks a grin and a story, retold from the driver’s seat like a proud artist pointing out gallery pieces across a hometown landscape.
Outside of work, Robbie enjoys time at the cabin with his goats, a setting that balances the fast-moving pace of entrepreneurship with quiet, earthy simplicity. He has been married to Katherine for over 20 years, and together they are raising four children. Katherine, who works alongside Robbie daily, is not only his wife but also the owner of Performance Signs and a central force in the company’s success. Her leadership guides the heartbeat of daily operations—overseeing systems, supporting the team, nurturing company culture, and ensuring that the shop runs with the same precision and intentionality she brings to every part of her life. Robbie’s vision might look to the future, but Katherine’s day-to-day stewardship ensures that the company stays grounded, organized, and thriving in the present.
