Magnetic signs are a temporary solution to your marketing needs, but well-maintained car magnets can last many years with proper maintenance.
After removing your magnetic car sign, clean it thoroughly and place it on a flat surface. Avoid stacking magnetic decals on top of each other during storage.
Magnetic door signs are an excellent way to promote your business to fellow traffic-goers. Outdoor advertising has an exceptional ROI due to the high visibility of your magnet—whether you are on the road or parked throughout the community.
Performance Signs manufactures magnets up to 24 inches high, and there is no limit on magnet length. However, we recommend your magnetic sign does not exceed 18 x 24 inches in size. Larger magnets are too weighty to adhere snugly to your vehicle.
Based on our experience, a set of two 12 x 24-inch magnets works well for most trucks, cars and vans. This standard size is lightweight enough to stick tightly while providing a high-visibility advertisement for both sides of your automobile.
Performance Signs’ magnets are made from high-quality, vehicle-grade magnets that do not damage the car’s finish when correctly installed and maintained. Paint scratches occur when debris is trapped between the magnet and the application surface. Apply custom magnetic signs after cleaning the car and wiping the magnetic backing.
Magnetic decals are not meant to be permanent. Remember to remove and clean them a couple of times per month when you wash your car for best results. Routinely removing, cleaning and repositioning the magnet also helps prevent UV fading, which can occur around the sign’s perimeter with long-term use.
Once you’ve determined your vehicle is magnetic, we recommend sticking car signs to a clean, flat and smooth surface. Angular and curved surfaces do not allow for optimal adhesion.
No. Magnetic decals adhere to vehicle panels made from ferrous (iron-containing) metals. While most cars have steel bodies and chassis that are magnet-receptive, newer models may contain fiberglass, carbon fiber, molded plastics or aluminum alloys. Magnets will not stick to these surfaces. Likewise, magnet decals may be unusable if your vehicle has undergone extensive bodywork. Damaged auto surfaces are commonly repaired with Bondo® Plastic Metal, a non-magnetic polyester putty.
Unsure whether a vehicle’s surface is made from ferrous metal or has undergone repairs? Before ordering your custom car magnet, clean your preferred application spot and test for adhesion using a weak kitchen magnet.
Vinyl truck lettering and car magnet signs are both high-ROI ways to promote your business, launch a new brand or advertise seasonal deals. Here are a few factors to consider before deciding between vehicle stickers and magnets:
With the application of a magnetic vehicle sign, your car becomes a cost-efficient tool for local business promotion. Unfortunately, environmental pollutants, moisture and temperature extremes are enemies of a magnet’s finish and color. To prevent logo’d magnets from degrading, fading or pulling away from the vehicle, keep these tips in mind:
Thoroughly clean and dry your vehicle and magnet sign before applying. Place one corner of the magnet against the truck and allow its natural pull to draw it into place. Gently press out air bubbles as you go. To secure your decal during wind, rain or high speeds, regularly lift, clean and re-secure signs them to check for a tight fit.
Dust magnets several times a week using a microfiber cloth or soft towel. At least once per week, and whenever decals are exposed to wet weather, remove them from the car and clean/dry all surfaces. Check for grit and debris before re-securing. Remove magnetic signs before entering an automated car wash or before hand-washing your vehicle. Never drag the sign along the vehicle’s finish.
Clean and dry auto decals before storing them flat. When stacking signs, do not allow magnet sides to touch. Do not place heavy objects on top of stored decals, and avoid storing magnetic signs in extreme temperatures.
